It was all clean and sunny in there so I grabbed my camera and thought I would give you a little tour of the living room and her take on lake house decor. Which basically means my house is a total disaster and to escape it for the afternoon I headed to my mom’s house down the road. “Future projects for us here are adding new landscaping and a vegetable garden, a master bathroom complete renovation, adding a rustic stone fireplace surround with mantel and wood beams in the living room, new farmhouse style windows with window boxes and board and batten shutters.I’m kind of in decorating limbo over at my house and in the process of rearranging things, getting a few new rugs and just generally sprucing up after all the Christmas shenanigans. “Our home is definitely a dream come true!” “Our lake house is situated on a cozy cove and our sunroom with all of the window views and access to our upper patio is where you will find us when we aren’t sunset cruising in the lake!” “Soft blues are my favorite and I love mostly neutral furniture with pops of color added with accessories, textiles, and artwork…and I love changing my color accents seasonally and just when I’m inspired!” The Foyer – Coastal Farmhouse Style “My style is a mix of modern farmhouse, cottage and coastal…and I always want it to feel casual, cozy, and welcoming!” A great coastal farmhouse style! “We replaced all of the old aluminum blinds with bamboo shades and painted throughout the house to give it a coastal cottage feel.” “And finally, I painted and retiled the laundry room in our coastal farmhouse style home.” Note the use of texture and vintage books grouped by color! “I then painted our outdated marble and gold fireplace and surround” Lisa mixed in watery blues, natural wicker and oodles of white paint to define her coastal farmhouse style. “Next I added open shelves to the kitchen for displaying some favorite pieces.” Our first big one was painting the brick exterior white and the dock and deck spaces gray.” “Our house had great “bones” so we were quite happy to move in and begin tackling lots of projects. “We moved in to our forever lake house…a dream come true….in April of 2019.” Our home is not new…it was built in the early 90’s and needed lots of updates and TLC! “ “After an exhaustive 2 years of seeing dozens of houses we found our diamond in the rough on Lake Wylie in Charlotte, North Carolina. We also were dreaming that we would find our retirement home near a lake so our children would have a place to come and bring their families and we could make lots of memories.” After 23 years in the same house raising them we began house hunting for a place close to a large airport to ease my husband’s work travel. “Four years ago the youngest of our 3 sons left for college. “My husband and I grew up close to fresh water lakes…and it is so wonderful how life has come full circle!” I was a Kindergarten teacher for years and then stayed home for many raising my boys…but my forever passion is interior decorating. ![]() “I’m Lisa and so excited to be one of Janet’s home tours!
